Your Run?
My favourite event is the marathon! I feel as though the marathon is the ultimate test both physically and mentally. It requires considerable planning both within the race and during the training block. I really enjoy the typical 12 week marathon specific training block leading into race day, as your fitness can really progress over that timeframe. My favourite run of the week would be a Sunday long run with a group, as it always provides some interesting chat.
Your Rules?
Instead of aiming for a particular distance (in kilometers) on your easy days, swap to time based runs. For example, instead of a 6km jog, change it to 30 minutes easy. I find it makes those runs go by a little quicker, it's easier to control your perceived effort and you can disconnect from your pace per km and having to reach a particular km target.
Your Rhythm?
I returned to running after being heavily involved in tennis. I found running was a much more flexible form of exercise and something I could do anywhere. I also found running to be a really inclusive and social sport as I have had some of the best conversations whilst out on a run with others.
All Time Favourite Shoe?
Tough question!
For race day, I still have the Nike Alphafly v1 as one of my all time favourites! I find it really easy to lock into half marathon and marathon pace. I'll also never forget putting on my first super shoe - Nike Vaporfly Next%.
Currently on the market, the Asics Superblast 2 is the perfect all rounder shoe that handles jogging and faster efforts. If I was going away and only had space for one shoe, the Superblast would be it!

Your Run?
I love the more continuous sessions compared to the all out speed sessions with standing recoveries. Therefore, my favourite session would have to be a Fartlek and it would look something like.. 5 x (3 minutes steady / 1 minute easy / 1 minute hard / 1 minute easy). Fartlek sessions leaves a lot of control to the runner which is why I enjoy is so much. I love being able to settle into a pace and rhythm for a specific time before heading into an aerobic recovery to assist in flushing out the lactate before having to switch on the "on" button again.
In terms of events, I definitely like the longer events such as a half marathon. The training block is always really enjoyable as it involves a lot of variability in terms of the aerobic and speed work. The long runs also don't need to be anything too crazy.
However, I am aiming to complete my first full marathon at the Gold Coast Marathon in 2025. I love that you can travel around the country (and world) to run marathons and half marathons - it is great motivation during a training block to know that there is a little holiday on the other side of the event!!
Your Rules?
I always get my running gear out the night before a session or jog so that everything is ready to go in the morning. This definitely makes it much easier when starting early and allows me to fit in a bit of mobility before I head out.
I also stick to plain white rice, with some soy sauce, for lunch and dinner the day before an event. This will sound very boring to most people but I know that I won't have an upset stomach during the run - it's low in fibre and easily digestible so that is a win win for me!!
Your Rhythm?
There are so main reasons why I run. Firstly, for the connection and social aspect which is what I love the most. I have met some incredible people throughout my running journey so far and have made friendships that will last a lifetime and this is something I am truly grateful for.
I also run for my own mental health. Running gives me control, clears my mind and provides me with a sense of freedom. There is nothing better than heading outside for a jog at the end of a long day, it is my form of meditation.

Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT%
Sadly I have only ever owned the one pair but wish I had stocked up!
This shoe was so versatile for all my sessions; from fartlek's to tempos and also the quicker 400m reps. The two Zoom Air pods under the forefoot provided excellent energy return and responsiveness without the shoes being stiff and aggressive with a plate.
They were light and the upper hugged my foot perfectly. I think I managed to get about 800km's out of this shoe before I needed to retire them.
I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that Nike might bring out an updated model one day!

Your Run?
Favourite run of the week is an easy choice for me - I love a long a run. 15km+ mainly because you can go solo, enjoy some time to yourself or run with a group, and catch up with friends. My favourite running event would have to be the Kangaroo Island Marathon. You never forget your first marathon and it is still the most scenic run I've ever done.
Your Rules?
There are two rules/habits that I stand by. Most of my runs are in the early morning (before 6am) so an espresso coffee pre run is a must. Secondly, I am always listening to a podcast on a long run.
Your Rhythm?
It doesn't matter how far, how fast, when or where the run takes you. It's a vehicle for positive change and every run I set out on makes me incredibly grateful. It's a choice you make and it's you versus yourself and there can be only one winner...YOU!
All TIme Favourite Shoe?
I can't split these two - New Balance 1080v10 & On Cloud Monster v1. I've worn both shoes many times and was also involved in the proto type testing for both. This meant I got to see the full journey from concept to market. But what both shoes did for both brands was re-set the expectations for runners using them and created a foundation for each brand to build their momentum on.

Your Run?
My favourite run has to be those long days on the trails, where I’m out there for hours.... nothing beats a big day out exploring new places!
Your Rules?
Embrace the highs and lows. Endurance events are a rollercoaster—there will be tough moments, but they don’t last forever. Just keep moving forward. Things rarely go to plan, and that’s part of the fun and why we love doing these things. Stay curious and open to the unexpected.
Your Rhythm?
Running for me is all about adventure and community. I run because of the places I get to see, the people I get to meet, and what I get to experience along the way.
All Time Favourite Shoe?
Hard to choose just one, but I’d give it to one of my first pairs of trail running shoes: the Salomon Sense Ride 2. Generally, I prefer shoes with a lower stack that allow for better ground feel and connection, and the Sense Ride 2 delivered that whilst still being versatile enough for both short and long runs.

Your Run?
The half marathon is my favourite event - I have always felt that I was suited to longer distances as I have never had a good sprint but could hold my stamina. Working on my cardio strength meant that I was able to combine the two successfully. I have competed in marathons before, but I feel the half marathon distance is the perfect amount of stamina to compete.
Your Rules?
I very rarely run with headphones - I like to be in my own head and train my mental capacity as well as the run at the same time
I keep a routine, regardless of weather - races can also have different weather conditions, so if you train in poor conditions you won't psych yourself out come event day
Your Rhythm?
Running has given me a life. Originally it was to create a work/life balance but as I started to improve, I developed that competitive edge - and I wasn't that bad. I then developed more of an interest in the sport, then met an amazing group of people and now running is my career, my social hobby and my competition. Running is a sport that anyone at any age and any standard can start - and if I can share knowledge and provide advice to anyone - that's what motivates me to keep going. Although it's a very individual sport, it can be super supportive.
All Time Favourite Shoe?
HOKA Rocket X, first proper race shoe and first shoe that had a podium finish and won - it's also the first shoe that gave me the confidence to think that I am not that bad of a runner!

Your Run?
8-10 x 1km. Nothing flashy, just bread and butter stuff. This session is very measurable so I like being able to look back and see the progression over time.
Your Rules?
R&R is just as important as the running, if you're not sleeping and eating well then you aren't going to be running well.
Your Rhythm?
Why I run changes, sometimes I just need the outlet of a long solo run, sometimes I do it for the social aspect with my friends and sometimes I just really want to see what I'm capable of and that motivates me the most.
All Time Favourite Shoe?
Asics Superblast v1 and then there is daylight before the next shoe. It's stable, durable, light, fast, slow. This shoe can do anything and doesn't miss a beat (I had 4 pairs!)
