Hoka Run Club: Celebrating the Mach X 2

runasone

On Wednesday September 25th, we were fortunate enough to be joined by Hoka to launch the new Mach X 2, a propulsive speed-trainer suited to all runners.

We had 60+ runners meet at the The RUNHÔUSE cafe in Norwood, owned by RunAsOne co-founders Riley Cocks (Head Coach) and Izzi Batt-Doyle (Associate Coach & two-time Australian Olympian). The sun was shining and we took full advantage of daylight at 6am before the clocks wind backwards for day-light saving.

Those runners who arrived early were able to secure themselves a pair of Mach X 2’s and those who missed out were fitted into either the lightweight and responsive Mach 6 or Hoka's new cushy super trainer, the Skyward X.

I said a few words to welcome the group, explained the run routes (my street names were certainly put to the test!) and also introduced our Hoka representative, Abera, who had flown over from Melbourne for the morning.

Runners had the option of a 5km or 8km loop through the parklands of Adelaide. The group was hard to miss with all participants provided with a bright blue ‘Hoka Run Club’ tee to mark the occasion.

We asked a few runners throughout the run about what their initial thoughts were on the shoes. A common response was how much they enjoy their Hoka trail shoes but hadn't exactly considered using the brand as a road running shoe; both for the mileage days and training sessions. I think it’s safe to say that some will now consider adding the Mach X 2 or another Hoka shoe to their growing shoe rotation. There were also very positive comments on how well the upper of the Mach X 2 supported the foot as well as the aesthetically bright colours that this range was offered in.

As we returned from the run, everyone was treated to a coffee with many opting for iced - it was a muggy and sticky morning which us Adelaideans' aren't huge fans of!

Two lucky participants found stars on the bottom of their takeaway cups and they were lucky to walk away with a Hoka shoe voucher to be redeemed in-store at RunDNA!

It was a fantastic morning and we are incredibly grateful to The RUNHÔUSE and their lovely baristas for hosting us.

We look forward to more Hoka Run Clubs in the near future!

Georgia van der Jeugd - Events Coordinator and Passionate Runner

I coordinate all of our events here at RunDNA and thoroughly enjoy working with a wide range of organisations within the running and fitness community.

I also love my running and particularly like the training block for a half marathon as it involves a lot of variability in terms of the aerobic and speed work. If I'm not out on the roads, or on the track, you'll usually find me in the gym, Pilates studio or swimming laps at my local pool.
